There can be many different reasons that would cause our beloved equids to itch but biting insects are by far the most common cause.

Some of the common reasons for an itchy horse include:

• Parasites – such as Lice

• Biting insects – such as horseflies and midges which cause conditions like Sweet itch

• Bacterial and Fungal infections – such as Rain Scald/Mud Fever and Ringworm

• Grass Allergies

• Pollen Allergies

• Allergies and intolerance to food ingredients or topical products.
